Samsung thought their latest flagship Galaxy Note 7 could compete against the Apple iPhone 7, but the Note 7 was literally bursting into flames. Apple has finally launched their new flagship, the iPhone 7 and it bigger model the iPhone 7 Plus. This is the ninth anniversary of the Apple iPhone, may be with the 10th anniversary, Apple will launch a new iPhone with a complete redesign.
The design is very similar to the previous iPhone. The home button is now redesigned, which makes it force sensitive. Apple iPhone 7 also gets the Taptic Engine haptic feedback system found on the Apple Watch, which means you will get vibration alerts. Both devices are IP67 certified, which makes them water and dust proof.

There are two new colour variants, Black and Jet Black and no more space grey variant. Other variants include Rose Gold, Gold and Silver. Appel ditched the 16GB versions and the base storage is now 32GB, there is no 64GB version either instead there is 128GB and the top of the line offering 256GB.
Apple iPhone 7 will come with a 4.7-inch Retina display with a 1334 x 750-pixel resolution which gives a pixel density of 326 ppi. The larger iPhone 7 Plus will have a 5.5-inch display will 1920 x 1080p resolution which give a pixel density of 401 ppi. Latest Android flagships have 2K (2560 x 1440) displays. That said, Apple is loudly proclaiming improvements to the quality of both displays highlighting a 25% brighter “cinema standard” Retina HD display. There is also a wider (P3) colour gamut and improved colour management, though Apple stopped short of labelling them ‘True Tone’ displays like that on the iPad Pro.
Both iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus has the latest A10 Fusion chip, which is claimed to be the most powerful processor in a smartphone by the company. A10 Fusion is a quad-core 64-bit processor. iPhone 7 will have have 2GB RAM and iPhone 7 Plus is expected to come with 3GB RAM. This chipset is can deliver up to 40 percent faster UPU performance and up to 50% faster GPU performance than the previous generation iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus.
Apple iPhone 7 comes with a 12MP camera and iPhone 7Plus comes with dual camera setup using two 12MP sensors. The two 12MP sensors have different types of lenses, one is a wide angle 28mm lens and the other is a 56mm Telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. Both smartphones have a 7MP front camera. Apple-designed image signal processor will do the hard work of optimising images after they are captured.
iPhone 7 – Rear: 12MP sensor, f/1.8 aperture, Focus Pixels, Optical Image Stabilization, quad-LED (dual tone) flash, 4K video recording. Front: 7MP sensor, f/2.2 aperture, 1080p recording. The larger aperture will result in better low light snaps.
iPhone 7 Plus – Rear: Dual 12MP sensors (f/1.8, 28mm & f/2.8, 56mm), Focus Pixels, OIS, 2x optical zoom, quad-LED (dual tone) flash, 4K video recording. Front: 7MP sensor, f/2.2 aperture, 1080p recording. One camera is identical the 12MP wide-angle lens in the iPhone 7, but the second is a telephoto lens enabling 2x optical zoom and far greater depth of field.
Both smartphones also get an upgraded four-LED True Tone Flash, which is 50% brighter and can produce more natural results.
Both devices also have a 7MP front camera which can record full HD videos. But this sensor has slower f/2.2 aperture just like the iPhone 6S, and it may not perform well in low light.
The latest Apple flagship still hasn’t implemented fast charging or wireless charging. Apple also didn’t reveal the exact battery capacity of both devices.
Both iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will come with dual speakers for the first time.
Apple has upgraded the 4G modem to support speeds up to 450Mbps.
As expected Apple iPhone 7 doesn’t have the 3.5mm audio jack as well. Instead the Apple iPhone 7 will use the Lightning port to deliver audio. Lightning earpods will be included in the box with every iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. Apple will also include a Lightning to 3.5mm audio jack adapter as well.
Apple launched the Airpod with Apple W1 chip, the first wireless chip from Apple. Infrared sensors detect when the Airpods are in your ear. It will have 5 hours of continuous battery life. The Airpods come with a small case and it can charge the Airpods when it is placed in the box.
Apple products are definitely costlier that the Android devices. AT launch the iPhone 6S was prices Rs.62000 and above, while the iPhone 6s Plus started selling at Rs. 72,000 and above. Later when the sales went down, the company slashed the prices by 16 percent and started selling the devices at Rs.46999.
This time, Apple iPhone 7 and 7 Plus have been priced at $649 onwards (Rs. 43,112 onwards) for 32GB (no 16GB model) and $769 for 32GB (Rs. 51,096) onwards, respectively. These are pricing in US, and Indian versions will cost Rs.5000 to Rs.10000 more.
