With the launch of Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, the company also revealed their new Apple Watch Series 2. Apple watch 2 is water resistant and come with built in GPS, which can be used to measure pace, distance and speed when running and biking. This new model is water resistant up to 50 meters (164 feet) and can be worn while showering and even swimming.
To make the watch water resistant, Apple re-engineered the speaker position, and the speaker itself will flush out the water out of its speaker grill – the only open portion of the watch.
Apple Watch Series 2 has a water lock capability within swimming section of its fitness app so that errant touches and splashes don’t constantly swipe away from the all-important screen.
Apple Watch series 2 looks same as the old generation Apple watch. But the hardware changed a lot, there is built in GPS and the display is a lot brighter at 1000nits. It is twice bright than the first generation Apple watch.
There is a new variant; ceramic. It’ll join aluminum and stainless steel cases, with the ultra-expensive gold Apple Watch cases being retired in the upgrade to the Series 1 and Series 2.
There are two more new variants from Hermes and Nike. Apple Watch Nike Plus comes with a new band, and it is designed for runners.
Apple watch series 2 will run the watchOS 3, and you will be able to run Pokemon Go in it. Apple Watch Series 2 will be available in two sizes: 38mm and 42mm.
