BSNL termed Reliance Jio’s entry in the market as a “challenge” for all operators and BSNL will try to match the company “tariff-by-tariff”.

“It is a question of survival in the market… there is no other way but to match Jio, tariff-by-tariff. If tariff of Jio is aggressive, the tariff of BSNL and of all other operators is also going to be aggressive,”

BSNL chairman and managing director Anupam Shrivastava said.

The recently revealed Rs.249 plan will offer 300GB data per month. Which means the users will be charged only less than Rs.1 per GB. But that is only if the user is able to download 300GB using the 1Mbps speed! It will take 1 hours to download 450MB file, 24 hours to download 10GB and 30 days to download 300GB. This plan is only available for new customers and it is valid only up to 6 months. After that users will have to choose another broadband plan.
