DJI launched their new foldable Mavic Pro drone as an answer to the GoPro Karma. The DJI Mavic Pro Foldable Drone is priced at $999 (approx. Rs. 66,400) and the shipping will begin on October 15 from DJI’s stores and Apple stores.

GoPro Karma drone was launched at the Photokina 2016 event. Similar to the Phantom 4, the Mavic Pro features a new FlightAutonomy system which includes a combination of software and hardware to tackle obstacles, map out 3D environments and for self-navigation.
In terms of size, DJI Mavic Pro is more compact than the GoPro Karma. DJI Mavic Pro comes with features like ActiveTrack, TapFly, and Gesture mode. This foldable drone can fly up to 27 minutes on a single charge in Sport mode, it can also achieve speeds up to 64.8kmph.
“DJI has spent a decade making it easier for anyone to fly, and by rethinking everything about how a drones look, we have created an entirely new type of aerial platform for anyone to explore their creativity,” said Frank Wang, DJI’s CEO and founder.
The drone comes with the company’s smallest three-axis gimbal for image and video stabilization. The 12MP sensor is capable of recording videos in 4K resolution at 30fps. It can also shoot raw still images and has two-second exposure for some creative shots. The new remote comes with an LCD display for reading telemetry data, but you will need to connect a smartphone to tablet to view the camera footage.
The DJI Mavic Pro drone can be paired with DJI Goggles, which is a VR-styled headset. It can give real-time feed from the drone in 1080p resolution. The DJI Goggle can connect directly to the drone, without using the controller.
GoPro Karma Drone will be priced at $799 (roughly Rs. 54,000) and the sale will start on October 23. GoPro also launched the Hero5 Black and Hero5 Session camera have features like voice control and ultra-high-definition image quality. The Hero5 Black will be priced at $399 (roughly Rs. 27,000) and Hero5 Session camera will be priced at $299 (roughly Rs. 20,000).
