Along with the Pixel Smartphones, Google launched the Google Home smart speaker, the Daydream View VR headset and controller, the Google WiFi smart router, and Chromecast Ultra.

The Google Home is a smart speaker, powered by Google Assistant, priced at $129 (approx. Rs. 8,600). Google home pre-order will start from Tuesday, and will start shipping from November. Those who purchase Google Home will also get subscription to the ad-free YouTube Red for 6 months.

Google Daydream View if a virtual reality headset and controller, priced at $79 (approx. Rs. 5,300). It will start sale in US from next month.

The Google WiFi router is priced at $129 (approx. Rs.8,600) and the per-order will start from November in the US. A 3-pack of the router will cost $299 (approx. 19,990). The new 4K supported Chromecast Ultra will start sale from November for $69 (approx. 4,600).

Google Home

Google Home is a smart speaker, which will help users to search the web or to make purchase online just by using voice. Google is a voice-based virtual assistant, which can answer questions, manage tasks, set up alarms and calendar events, control other smart devices in home, stream videos through Chromecast, audio casting etc. The device will get activated one we say ‘Ok Google’ and it connects to third-party IoT devices and platforms such as Next, Philips Hue, Samsung SmartThings, and IFTTT. To reassure privacy, the device has a mic mute button.

The Google Home device has a three speaker setup and it can give “crystal-clear highs and deep lows”. The base will come in several colour variants and finishes, while the top portion remains the same, and features a capacitive touch surface to control it if required.

Google WiFi is basically a router which can be used to increase the WiFi signal coverage. The 3-pack is for users with a house larger than 1500 square feet.  It sports a LED light to show network status, an Ethernet port, and a USB Type-C port for power. It supports dual-band 5GHz Wi-Fi and AC1200 standards, with additional support for the Bluetooth Smart specification.

The Chromecast Ultra has 4K video, HDR and Dolby Vision support. The company also claims the device is up to 1.8 times faster than the previous generation while opening media files. It also has an Ethernet port, if required.

Google Daydream View

Google Daydream View is the company’s first Daydream-ready headset and controller. The headset is made from breathable fabric, which makes it more comfortable to use. It is 30 percent lighter than competing headsets, it also works with spectacles, and it is also hand-washable. The company claims, users just have to insert a Daydream-ready smartphone in to the headset and it will take care of the alignment itself.

The Daydream View headset also comes with a Bluetooth powered controller, which can fit into the headset for easy storage. The controller has sensors inside to detect motion and two buttons can be used to control volume.

None of these devices will be available in India according to Google. May be they will launch it next year or later.
