Google Branded Pixel and Pixel XL launched at an event in San Francisco. India will be one of the launch markets for the phone and the price will start from Rs. 57,000 in India. Pre-orders will start from October 13, and the phone will be available from Flipkart, Reliance Digital and Croma. The phone will be available from small retailers by the end of October according to Google.

In India the Google Pixel will cost Rs. 57,000 for 32GB variant and Rs. 66,000 for 128GB. Pixel XL will cost Rs. 67,000 for 32GB and Rs. 76,000 for 128GB. It will be available in Quite Black, Really Blue (limited edition), and Very Silver color variants, though it seems the blue color will not launch in India just yet.

Pixel XL launched

Most of the details about the phone was leaked before the launch, and the phone was as expected from the leaks. The Pixel and Pixel XL will be the first phones with Google Assistant built-in. The smaller version Google Pixel will have a 5-inch full HD AMOLED display and the larger Google Pixel XL will have a 5.5-inch Quad HD AMOLED display, both phones will have Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. Both phones have sesame hardware, only the display and battery capacity is different.

Both phones have an aluminium unibody with polished glass combination at the back. Tense phones are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor with two cores clocked at 1.6GHz, and two cores clocked at 2.15GHz.  Both the Pixel and Pixel XL launched with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and sport Pixel Imprint fingerprint sensor. The smartphones have a 12.3MP rear camera using a Sony IMX378 sensor with PDAF, a large f/2.0 aperture and 1.55-micron pixels. The front camera is 8MP using a Sony IMX179 sensor with f/2.4 aperture and 1.4-micron pixels.

There are only two variants of both phone in terms of storage, 32GB and 128GB. But Google is giving unlimited storage for full-resolution photos and videos via Google Photos. Not phones will be based on the latest Android 7.1 Nougat, will have USB Type-C and 3.5mm audio jack. The Google Pixel smartphone will come with 24×7 customer care feature which can help resolve issues on the device real-time. Pixel users will have access to a toll free phone support number along with 54 walk in service centers across over 30 cities in India.

Google also revealed the Daydream VR headset, Chromecast ultra 4K HDR, Google WiFi and Google Home.
