Huawei launched its new flagship smartphone in India – the Honor 8. It comes with dual rear camera setup, a premium metal build and fingerprint scanner at the rear. The phone will be available from Amazon, Flipkart and the Honor Online Store for Rs. 29,999. The smartphone is available in Sunrise Gold, Pearl White, and Sapphire Blue color options.

The Honor 8 comes with 24 months of extended warranty, 3 months of screen damage replacement warranty, 3-month replacement service for any manufacturing defects, and ‘postal repair’ – for a pan-Indi pick and drop service. It has 2.5D curved glass on the front and back, with rounded metal edges.

The Honor 8 is powered by a 1.8GHz octa-core Kirin 950 processor paired with Mali-T880 GPU and 4GB of RAM. It has a 5.2-inch full HD (1080×1920 pixels) LTPS LED display with 96 percent NTSC and pixel density of 423ppi. There is 32GB internal storage and the phone can support MicroSD cards up to 128GB.

The big highlight of the phone is its dual rear camera setup using two 12MP sensors with f/2.2 aperture, laser autofocus and dual tone dual-LED flash. One sensor records color information, while the other records in monochrome with higher contrast. Two images are processed and merged together to get the best results. The front camera is 8MP with f/2.4 aperture, and 1080p video recording support.

Other features include screen-lock snapshot, virtual aperture shooting, night shot, professional mode, beauty mode, food mode, panorama, HDR, watermark, light painting, time-lapse, slow-motion, audio note, document scan, capture smiles, touch to capture, Sound Snap, delayed shooting, and face detection.

The Honor 8 has single Nano SIM slot and it will come with EMUI 4.1 on top of Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. The included 3000mAH battery is claimed to provide 9 hours of online video streaming and 24 hours of online music streaming. The company claims, it can be charged fully within 100 minutes, and up to 47 percent within 39 minutes.

For connectivity, it has support for 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, and an infrared. It has not support for FM radio, and supported sensors are; an accelerometer, an ambient light sensor, a gyroscope, and a proximity sensor. The phone weighs 153grams and dimension are 145.5x71x7.45mm.

Huawei also launched the Honor 8 Smart priced at Rs. 19,999 and Honor Holly 3 budget smartphone priced at Rs. 9,999.
