Xiaomi’s most devices in India re now running on MIUI 7 based on Android 6 Marshmallow. Some devices also has MIUI 7 based on Android 5 Lollipop. Recently Most smartphones started receiving the MIUI 8 update. We are here to talk about MIUI 9 based on Android 7 Nougat.

MIUI 9 with Android 7.0 Nougat

A screenshot of the company’s upcoming MIUI with version number 9 6.9.23. Xiaomi might be planning to roll out the update sooner than expected. We can expect to receive the update by early next year. Xiaomi’s flagship devices may receive the update this year itself.


New update will be available for devices like Mi 5, Redmi Pro, Mi 4s, Mi 4c, Redmi Note 3, Redmi Note 4, Redmi 2 Prime, Redmi 3, Redmi 3s, Redmi 3A, Mi Max, Mi Note, Mi Note Pro, Mi Pad 2, and Mi 4i.

A few popular devices including Xiaomi Mi 2, Mi 2S, Mi 3, Mi 4 and Redmi 1S will not receive the update. These devices are not compatible with the Vulcan API used in Android 7.0 Nougat. This doesn’t mean these devices will not receive any update after sometime, they will frequently receive MIUI updates, but not with Android 7 Nougat.

Android 7 Nougat has features like multi-window, direct reply notifications, extra power efficiency, Google Assistant, VR interface, screen zoom, instant apps, app switch, bundled notifications, improved Java 8 language support, and new emojis. Let’s wait to see these features on Xiaomi devices. Some features like data saver are already present in MIUI.
