Moto Z Play

Lenovo announced the launch of Moto Z Play, a more affordable version of Moto Z modular smartphone announced in June this year. The new product is unveiled at the IFA 2016 in Berlin. The Moto Z Play will be priced at $499 (approximately Rs. 33,500) and it will start shipping in September. Lenovo also announced that the Moto Z will be priced at $624 (approximately Rs. 41,750).

The Moto Z and Moto Z Play come with Moto Mods support, a modular system that add extra functionality to the smartphone. Lenovo also revealed a new Moto Mod developed with Hasselblad, called the True Zoom, which improves camera capabilities of the Moto Z.

Moto Z Play has a 5.5 inch Full HD Super AMOLED display. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC coupled with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. There will be a 16MP camera on the rear and a 5MP camera on the front. Moto Z Play will house a 3510mAh battery. The ‘Moto Mods’ will work with all Moto Z series smartphones, including Moto Z, Moto Z Play and Verizon-exclusive Moto Z Force.

Hasselblad True Zoom Mod

The Hasselblad True Zoom Mod is one of the best Moto Mod system, which allows users to increase the camera per romance of the device with an easy-to-attach accessory. This Mod features a 13MP sensor with 10X Optical Zoom, xenon flash, auto back-up of pictures and the ability to shoot in RAW format. This camera mod has a dedicated shutter button and a control for zoom as well, allowing you to shoot without physically interacting with the phone’s screen. The phone’s default camera app can detect the presence of the Hasselblad mod and provide additional controls and features on the screen.

The Hasselblad True Zoom Mod is the latest addition to Lenovo’s approach to modular smartphones. Moto Mods like JBL SoundBoost is already here. Other mods are Insta-Share projector, Incipio OffGrid Power Pack that adds a 2200mAh battery to the device, and Style Shells which change the look and texture of the phone.

The new Moto Z Play and Moto Mods are expected to go on sale from September. There is no word from the company about the price and availability in India.
