Reliance Jio launched a new JioFi hotspot device with an OLED display and a larger 2600mAh battery. This device is not available all over India yet, it is being sold in few cities at a price tag of Rs.1999.
This new JioFi device is larger than its predecessor and sports a square shape with smooth edges. The first JioFi device had a glossy finish which attracted fingerprints and got easily scratched, but this new JioFi device has a matte finish design. The most noticeable difference is the addition of anew LOED display, which gives info if the device is on or off, the battery charge left, 4G signal strength and WiFi signal strength. It has a MicroUSB port for charging, a power button and a WPS button. It comes in a new cylindrical packaging. It has support for 3 (1800 MHz), 5 (850 MHz) and 40 (TD 2300 MHz) for Jio. The larger size might be caused because of the new 2600mAh battery compared to the 2300mAh battery in previous generation JioFi device.
It will take more than 3 hours and 30 minutes to fully charge the device using the provided charger, it will take up to 6 hours to fully charge if you connect it to normal USB port in PC/laptop.
Twitter user Raghvendra shared pictures of the new Reliance Jio JioFi, the image shows a ‘Designed in India’ test at the back of the device. This device can support to connect up to 10 devices at the same time, and it also has MicroSD card support up to 32GB. The price remains the same as the old variant. The JioFi hotspot device was first launched in India for Rs.2899, and later the company dropped the price to Rs.1999.
All JioFi hotspot devices are also eligible for the Welcome Offer, which will give 4GB 4G data per day till December 31st. This device will be useful if you have a smartphone without 4G support. It can last up to 5 hours on single charge, and you can use the data in your 3G smartphone. It can also support voice calls by installing the Jio Join app in your smartphone.
