Samsung Galaxy On5 Pro Review
Galaxy On5 Pro looks exactly like it previous version, the Galaxy On5. Galaxy On5 Pro has plastic body with metallic finish on the sides and there is leather type texture on the back. Just like most Samsung devices, build quality and finishing is good. You can find the power button on the right side of the phone. Volume rocker is on the left side and 3.5mm audio jack, mic and USB port are at the bottom side. There is no dual microphone setup for voice cancellation.
Samsung Galaxy On5 Pro has a 5 inch TFT screen with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and 294ppi pixel density. The display is good enough to produce accurate colours and viewing angles are good.
RAM and Storage
Samsung Galaxy On5 Pro comes with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB ROM. You can add additional storage up to 128 GB using a Micro SD card. The device has OTG support.
Performance and Gaming
On5 Pro is powered by Samsung Exynos 3475 quad core processor clocked at 1.3 GHz with Mali T720 GPU. It is a 32 bit cortex A7 processor. There is 2GB RAM but the processor is not enough to push the performance in a good level. On5 Pro will be running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box. You will suffer occasional lags and the gaming performance is not good. Asphalt 8 works better in very low graphic settings with occasional lags. In short Samsung Galaxy On5 Pro is not for gamers.
On5 Pro Benchmark
Samsung Galaxy On5 Pro has an 8MP auto focus camera with f/2.2 aperture and LED flash on the back and a 5 MP camera with f/2.2 aperture on the front. The option to record in FHD is there, but due to some issues it’s not working. An update might fix the issue. You can record videos only in 720p for now. Using the 8 MP camera, you can capture average quality photos.
There is no LED notification, and only has few sensors, which are accelerometer and proximity. There is no light or magnet sensor. Device weights 146 grams with the removable battery and dimensions are 72.02 x 142.06 x 8.30mm.
Main speaker sound and incall sound is loud and clear. Samsung Galaxy On5 Pro supports dual Micro SIM with 4G VoLTE support. It has 14 regional language support. There is Ultra Data Savings mode (UDS) and S-Bike mode. There is GPS, WiFi and Bluetooth 4.1 support.
The 2600 mAh battery is able to provide decent battery backup. You can expect 6-7 hours on non stop moderate to high usage. With normal usage you will get a full day backup. Battery backup is the only good thing we found in this handset. It will take less than 3 hour to charge the battery from 0% to 100%.
Avoid it. There are better options out there. Why should we spend this money to get this weak handset? There are lower priced smartphones which are even better than this or increase your budget slightly and buy a Samsung device with Super AMOLED screen.
