Due to the Galaxy Note 7 recall issues, Samsung might be planning to launch their new flagship, the Galaxy S8 sooner. It is expected that the company is working on two flagship devices currently, referred as Dream and Dream2, and it have model numbers SM-G950 and SM-G955 respectively. The existing Samsung Galaxy S7 came with the model number SM-G930.

An Analyst speculated that, if the company delayed the launch of their new flagship due to the Galaxy Note 7’s recall, it may worsen the “profitability of the mobile business division”. He suggests the company should offset this crisis by advancing the launch of the Galaxy S8.

Kim Sang-pyo, an analyst at the KB Investment & Securities, told Korea Herald, “Regardless of the sales resumption, an earlier launch of a new quality flagship model seems to be the most realistic solution to dealing with the current recall crisis.”

Sammobile reports that Samsung is giving the number 4 a miss because of “Tetraphobia.” The company is said to believe the digit 4 is bad luck and that may be the reason why they chose to go for model numbers SM-G950 and SM-G955 for alleged Samsung Galaxy S8 Dream and Dream2 models respectively. Samsung Galaxy S3 came with the model number GT-I9300 and Galaxy S4 came with model number GT-I9500.

Another report suggests that, Samsung will follow the lead of Apple and drop the 3.5mm headphone jack in Galaxy S8. There are rumours that Samsung might implement their own proprietary headphone jack; it won’t be good for consumers.

Another rumour is that the Galaxy S8 will be powered by the company’s own Exynos 8895 SoC with clock speeds of up to 3GHz. This new chipset will have improced image processing capabilities.
