MIUI 9.0 with Android 7.0 Nougat is in beta testing mode and the stable version will be released soon. The MIUI operations manager who posted in Weibo didn’t mention the exact date when the company will begin to roll out the update.

A few popular devices including Xiaomi Mi 2, Mi 2S, Mi 3, Mi 4 and Redmi 1S will not receive the update. These devices are not compatible with the Vulcan API used in Android 7.0 Nougat. This doesn’t mean these devices will not receive any update after sometime, they will frequently receive MIUI updates, but not with Android 7 Nougat.

Android 7 Nougat has features like multi-window, direct reply notifications, extra power efficiency, Google Assistant, VR interface, screen zoom, instant apps, app switch, bundled notifications, improved Java 8 language support, and new emojis. Let’s wait to see these features on Xiaomi devices. Some features like data saver are already present in MIUI.
