Xiaomi Mi 5X

Xiaomi India’s Managing Director Manu Kumar Jain tweeted that the company will launch its first dual-camera smartphone in India in September. “Can’t wait for you guys to check out Xiaomi’s first dual-camera phone in India. Coming next month,” Jain wrote on Twitter on Tuesday. He didn’t mention the smartphone model, but it might be the newly launched Xiaomi Mi 5X.

Many Xiaomi fans were waiting for the launch of Mi 6 in India, but the company launched the Mi Max 2 instead in India. If you are still waiting for Mi6, it isn’t coming to India, the company has no plans to launch it here. The Xiaomi Redmi Pro smartphone also has dual-rear camera setup, but it is an old model now.

Xiaomi Mi 5X specifications

This smartphone is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 625 SoC clocked at up to 2GHz coupled with 4GB of RAM. It has a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) LTPS display. There is 64GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 128GB using a MicroSD card.

It has a dual rear camera setup using one 12MP wide-angle with 1.25-micron pixel sensor and f/2.2 aperture, and a 12MP telephoto with 1-micron pixel sensor and f/2.6 aperture) similar to the Xiaomi Mi 6. Front camera is 5MP with real-time beautification feature.

Xiaomi Mi 5X is a dual-SIM (Nano) smartphone running the new MIUI 9 based on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, GPS/ A-GPS, USB Type-C port, and 3.5mm headphone jack. Sensors on board include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, infrared, magnetometer, and proximity sensor. The Xiaomi Mi 5X with a high-quality audio output with DHS Audio Calibration Algorithm and a standalone audio amplifier for improved quality via headphones. Xiaomi’s latest smartphone packs a 3080mAh battery, measures 155.4×75.8×7.3mm, and weighs 165grams.

The Xiaomi Mi 5X is priced at CNY 1,499 (approx. Rs. 14,200) in China and it is available in Black, Gold and Pink colour options. We can expect a similar price tag in India as well, because Xiaomi Mi Max has a price tag of Rs. 16,999.
