Xiaomi may launch Mi Box in India by this Diwali. Some reports say that; Xiaomi is trying to integrate set-top-boxes running in India to the device. The Mi box was announced at the Google I/O in May 2016. It is basically an Android TV based set top box.
Xiaomi Mi Box is powered by a 2 GHz quad-core processor with a Mali 450 GPU clocked at 750 MHz. There will be 2 GB RAM and 8 GB ROM. Xiaomi Mi Box Can stream 4K videos and will even support HDR (HDR 10). This Android TV enabled streaming box will be running Android 6.0 out of the box.
Even if Xiaomi is trying to bring the Xiaomi Mi Box to India, it will take some time as Xiaomi’s engineers are trying to figure out a way to integrate the set-top-box functionality into it. So the feed from the cable TV providers will be layered under Xiaomi’s own UI. Which means after connecting, users won’t be able to switch between the cable TV and Mi Box, but use it as primary device.
Xiaomi Mi Box has Dual band WiFi (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) and all standards including 802.11a/b/g/n/ac. This device also supports Bluetooth 3.0 and 4.0.
