Xiaomi has scheduled an even on September 27 at China National Convention Center in Beijing. Xiaomi has also launched a teaser with a big ‘S’ taking the spotlight hinting this might be the launch of the Xiaomi Mi 5s.
Xiaomi Mi 5s is expected to be a more powerful version of the Xiaomi Mi 5 flagship smartphone. There were lots of leaked images in the recent days. If the leaks were true, the device will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC clocked at 2.4GHz, the Mi5 has a Snapdragon 820 chipset.
Xiaomi Mi 5s will have a 5.5-inch full HD (1080×1920 pixels) display with 95 percent NTSC color gamut, and 650 nits of brightness. It will be powered by a 64-bit Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor with Adreno 530 GPU paired with 6GB of RAM. There will be 256GB internal storage, and it is expected there will be other RAM/storage models as well. The dual-SIM (Nano+Nano) device will run MIUI 8 based on the android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.
Older leaks suggested a dual camera setup, but the latest leaks show a single 16MP rear camera and a 4MP front camera. Xiaomi Mi 5s is expected to sport an iPhone 7 like tactile home button with fingerprint scanner. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, USB Type-C and NFC support. The smartphone dimensions are 144.5×69.2×7.2mm and weigh 147 grams.
