Xiaomi will soon launch a new variant of the Mi Max 2 smartphone in India. The original Mi Max 2 with 4GB + 64GB configuration was launched priced at Rs. 16,999 in July. The new variant will come with 4GB + 32GB option priced at Rs. 14,999, but the company will offer it at an introductory price tag of Rs. 12,999. The new variant will go on sale starting September 20 at 12pm on Amazon India, Mi.com and Mi Home.

The Mi Max 2 has the same design of its older variant with a metal unibody casing with a fingerprint sensor on the back. It is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 625 SoC clocked at 2GHz coupled with 4GB of RAM. This smartphone has a 6.4-inch full HD (1080×1920 pixels) display with a pixel density of 342ppi, a brightness rated at 450 nits, a 72 percent NTSC colour gamut, 2.5G curved glass, and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The storage can be expanded up to 128GB using a MicroSD card.
It has a 12MP rear camera using Sony IMX386 sensor with 1.25-micron pixels, PDAF support f/2.2 aperture, and dual-LED flash. It also has a 5MP front camera with an f/2.0 aperture and real-time beautification options.
The Mi Max 2 is a dual-SIM (Micro+Nano) smartphone running MIUI 8 based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box. The included 5300mAh battery is claimed to last up to two days and also has support for Quick Charge 3.0 that charges the battery up to 68 percent in just one hour. The battery is rated to deliver up to 57 hours of talk time, 18 hours of video playback time, and 31 days of standby time. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, NFC and USB Type-C port. Its dimensions are 174.1 x 88.7 x 7.6 mm and weighs 211 grams.
