The Xiaomi Mi TV 3S is 9.9mm at its thinnest point and 37.6mm at the thickest. It features an anodized aluminium alloy frame, which the company says bears an embossed double 45-degree diamond cut. It comes with brushed aluminium back panel, to give that good look if the TV is visible from its back side.
The 65-inch variant comes with a Samsung display panel with 4K (3840×2160 pixels) resolution and NTSC 85 percent colour gamut. The lower 55-inch model also has 4K resolution but uses LG IPS panel. Moth models are powered by a 64-bit quad-core Amlogic T966 processor clocked at 1.8GHz coupled with a quad-core Mali-T830 GPU. There is 2GB of RAM and 8GB of internal eMMC storage.
The Xiaomi Mi TV 3S has support for WiFi 802.11 ac and Bluetooth v4.0. The H.265 hardware decoder is powerful enough to display 4K content at 60fps. These TVs are powered by fifth generation image quality engine. Both variants also have support for HDR, and the OpenGL 3.1 standard. The Xiaomi Mi TV 3S uses four speakers for the standard independent sound system including a sound bar. These televisions also have support for Dolby and DTS hardware-level decoding.
Xiaomi also revealed the Lei Shi KTV wireless microphone to sue with the TV, priced at CNY 599 (approx. RS.6000). The new Mi TV 3S features a new Patch Wall puzzle interface, what the company calls “the first TV system with AI in the world”. Details on this front are scarce. It includes the company’s Mi Brain technology, a machine learning based recommendation engine.
Xiaomi also announced 65-inch Home theater edition of Mi TV 3S. The home theater comes with a newly designed subwoofer, rear surround speakers with 2.25-inch full-range. The company claims that the subwoofer and rear surround speakers will provide “smooth audio with clear high to deep bass” by offering a frequency range of 30Hz to 22KHz. The rear surround speakers come with wireless speaker setup to connect using 5GHz Wi-Fi technology. Apart from the accessories to turn Mi TV 3S into a home theater, all other specifications are similar to the Mi TV 3S AI TV.
The TV can access a rich ecosystem with around 27,000 movies for entertainment with a massive content library powered by Yicai, Iqiyi, Youku and Tencent in China.
